And what forces are about to reshape the future of **Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, and the rest of the DC Universe? Prepare yourselves for truly epic events.

Introduction to the Absolute Universe:

Alternate Names:
* Elseworld
* Alpha World

Creators:
* Scott Snyder
* Yanick Paquette

First Appearance in Comics:
Dark Nights: Death Metal #7* (March 2021)

The Absolute Universe, often referred to as Elseworld or Alpha World, is a parallel dimension that emerged alongside Earth Omega after the creation of the Infinite Frontier in the aftermath of the last Metal War. Together with Earth Omega, Elseworld stands as one of the two poles of the expanded Multiverse-1.

It shares many similarities with Earth-0, but while Earth-0 thrives on hope embodied by Superman, Elseworld runs on despair, embodied by Darkseid.

History and Origins:

After the Hands reshaped creation itself, two new realities were born within the core Multiverse, replacing Earth-0 as its new center. The Totality of Earth-0 soon discovered these realms, recognizing that although they were unreachable, one of them—later renamed Elseworld—was in fact Alpha World, brimming with possibilities.

The Absolute Universe Before Darkseid’s Arrival:

Despite their best efforts, neither the Justice League nor the Legion of Doom could gather information about this phenomenon from their united network of Watchers known as the Totality. Still, they were able to determine that Elseworld was in an unfinished, evolving state, showing a new but familiar vibrational pattern similar to that of Earth-0.

The Absolute Activation:

After Amanda Waller’s failed campaign to wipe out Earth’s metahumans and sever the Flash from Earth-0 and the rest of the Multiverse, Darkseid’s isolation from his many aspects began to solidify into a complete and volatile entity.

This led him to question his role within the Omniverse, beginning a mission that started with constructing a Miracle Machine and hunting down the Spectre, intending to merge with him. Eventually, using his creation, he sought fusion with the Aztar.

Our story begins here.

It has been **52 days** since the fall of Amanda Waller’s office. The greatest heroes of Earth realized they were wrong to disband the Justice League, and so they began building a **new Watchtower**. But this time, the mistakes of the past would not be repeated.

For that reason, the greatest minds came together and created a **new membership card**—forged with the finest Earth technology, fused with alien science, and sealed with powerful magic. These cards were sent to the world’s greatest heroes.

Some were shocked by the offer to join. Others felt it was the right time to finally receive the recognition they deserved. Still, some rejected the idea altogether. But Superman believed that certain people needed to be approached **personally**.

In **Metropolis**, Booster Gold descends from a burning building, carrying two children in his arms.

“Outstanding work, sir! First-class heroics! Should I upload this to our social feeds?” asks Skeets.

Booster shakes his head. “Don’t bother, Skeets.”

Skeets hovers down next to the children’s father and snaps a selfie of the whole family.

“Alright, everyone—say: *Guy Gardner is a loser!*” Booster jokes, making the children laugh, before taking off into the sky.

“Nice work, Mike,” calls out a familiar voice.

Booster looks over in shock—it’s the **Man of Steel** himself, flying right beside him.

“I’m impressed,” Superman says with a warm smile.

Booster stammers nervously. “Oh—hey there! I know I’m on your turf. Next time, I’ll leave the rescues to you. Am I in trouble? I swear, whatever Ted told you—it’s mostly not true.”

Superman chuckles and shakes his hand.

“No, nothing like that. In the past, the Justice League didn’t always welcome you with open arms. You’ve had your ups and downs… but I’ve been watching. Your growth as a hero is undeniable.”

Superman then hands him something—**a Justice League membership card**.

“You’ve earned this.”

Booster stares at the card in disbelief. “Finally…” he whispers.

Superman tilts his head, surprised. “You were already a member once before.”

But Michael shakes his head, explaining. “In the future I came from—before I borrowed the tech that made me a hero—I used to see the exhibits. Relics of history: a Lantern’s ring, crystals from the Fortress of Solitude, the Legion’s flight ring… and this card. This was one of those legendary items.”

Booster holds the card tightly, his voice trembling. “I feel lucky just to be here… now.”

Superman smiles at his enthusiasm and soars into the sky.

“Don’t be late for your first meeting,” he calls back.

The next day, the **transport systems** came online, allowing many heroes to reach the newly built **Justice League Watchtower**. The Green Lanterns arrived from space, while others flew in or came through advanced vehicles.

As they passed through the halls, the heroes were greeted by **The Question**, who was placed in charge of Watchtower security. Together, they entered the grand hall, where **Mister Terrific** welcomed everyone to the very first meeting of the **Unlimited Justice League**.

He showed them the Watchtower’s vast monitoring network, capable of scanning and responding to alerts across the globe.

Booster Gold arrived late, interrupting Terrific’s speech.

“I told you we shouldn’t have stopped for hot dogs,” Skeets whispered.

Booster floated awkwardly above the ground as Terrific displayed a **blank membership card**, symbolizing the heroes yet to join in the future.

“To tomorrow, my friends,” Mister Terrific said with a smile.

But suddenly, the **Watchtower began to shake**. Alarms blared.

“We have a breach! Activate security protocols!” Batman shouted, stepping forward.

“This has never happened before,” Skeets buzzed, scanning the systems.

Michael shook his head quickly. “Of course it hasn’t, Skeets…”

Then, all of the **magic-users present** began speaking in reverse, their voices warped and distorted, echoing backward words. But one word stood out clearly to Diana—whispered in pain by every sorcerer.

A heartbeat later, **Omega Beams** erupted from their eyes, ripping through the chamber and detonating the new Watchtower in a devastating explosion.

A **Boom Tube** opened amid the chaos.

“Well, that’s not good,” muttered Blue Beetle, standing beside Batman as fire and debris filled the air.

“Ready yourselves!” Batman ordered.

From the tube emerged a **massive figure**, cloaked in shadow. His voice thundered across the hall.

At last… it was **Darkseid**, stepping into the Watchtower wielding a colossal axe, his body draped in a tattered, corrupted cloak belonging to **The Spectre**.

“Darkseid merged… with the Spectre,” Superman said grimly as the heroes rushed to attack.

“If that’s true,” Hal Jordan added, unleashing a blast of emerald energy, “then Darkseid isn’t just the ruler of Apokolips anymore… he’s death itself.”

Darkseid slammed his axe into the ground, unleashing a quake that hurled the heroes backward.

“It’s over! Stop resisting and tell me the truth—what was that surge I felt?” he bellowed.

Fire and destruction erupted around them as the League pressed the attack.

“We’ve got a problem, sir,” Skeets reported. “I’m detecting a **reality distortion**.”

As Michael darted toward Mister Terrific, he shouted, “How can I help?”

Terrific furiously calculated with his **T-Spheres**. “Darkseid is here—but he’s not really here. He’s out of sync with reality itself, and the universe is shifting around him. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“Don’t just stand there—fight!” Batman roared, as the heroes launched another wave against their godlike enemy.

Meanwhile, the other magic-users regained consciousness. Zatanna quickly gathered a circle of sorcerers around her.

“The Spectre is one of the most powerful beings in existence,” she said. “For Darkseid to merge with him, it must have taken immense force. But I can feel it—the Spectre is resisting. The bond isn’t complete. Our best chance is to **separate them**!”

“We’ll need time!”

Diana stepped forward with Batman, casting her **Lasso of Truth** around Darkseid’s massive frame.

“I’ll buy you that time, sister!” she cried.

Darkseid activated the Watchtower’s systems, trying to forge a gateway. He turned his glowing eyes toward Wonder Woman.

“Diana of the Amazons… Men may fear your rope of truth. But not Darkseid. The truth is exactly what I have sought. And now I’ve found it. It is… glorious,” he rumbled.

Zatanna completed her incantation, casting a spell over Superman.

“This will shield you from the Spectre’s influence—but not from Darkseid himself,” she warned.

Superman nodded firmly. “Dangerous or not—we don’t have time.”

In a flash of speed, Superman launched himself at Darkseid, as Diana strained to hold him with the lasso.

“We can’t stop him—not now, not ever!” Wonder Woman cried, teeth gritted as the pressure mounted.

“Your bond with the Spectre is unstable, Darkseid! Release him!” Superman roared.

Darkseid howled in pain as **cosmic energy surged** around his body. His form began to tear apart, unraveling.

Then, in a shockingly calm whisper, he said:

“Thank you…”

And he vanished—leaving behind a **reality tear**, pulsing with unstable energy.

The hall fell silent.

“…Did he just thank us?” Hal asked, hovering uncertainly.

The heroes gathered around the tear.

“I’ve seen something like this before,” Wally West said quietly. “A rupture in time and space.”

Superman’s expression hardened.

“Get ready,” he told them. “We’ve just found our **first mission**.”

Later, the newly-formed team gathered around the **rift**.
Orion warned them:

“If Darkseid has truly died, then the universe will create something new… something else to take his place, in order to maintain balance.”

With that, Orion departed for **New Genesis** to consult with **Highfather**.

The heroes turned back to Mister Terrific, who explained that the **blank membership card**—once at the center of the attack—had now become a **gateway to the rift**. The card glowed with a dark crimson light, branded with the **Omega symbol**.

“A gateway to what?” Superman asked, gazing into the tear.

Terrific explained that during their mapping of the Multiverse, they had discovered a hidden world—an unfinished realm that had now been fully activated.

Superman whispered, **“Elseworld…”**

Terrific shook his head. “We first detected the **Alpha World** after the defeat of Perpetua and the Dark Knights. At that time, the readings showed it was still forming. Now… it’s complete, radiating the same kind of energy as Darkseid himself. But its vibrational frequency is unstable. If it stabilizes… we don’t know what might happen.

“The bottom line is: this world is dangerous. Its **temporal flow** is unnatural. The only ones who can safely enter are those with an abundance of **chronal particles**.”

Terrific concluded firmly:
“Which means… **only time travelers can go there.**”

At that moment, **Booster Gold** made a dramatic entrance into the chamber.

“One of your best, sir,” Skeets whispered proudly, hovering at Michael’s shoulder.

Booster stepped forward. “This is something I have to do. This is why I’m here. It has to be me.”

Superman met his eyes, nodding solemnly.

Terrific prepared the equipment, fastening a tether line to Skeets. “In ten minutes, the portal will automatically recall you here. Don’t lose Skeet.”

“I think you mean Skeets,” the little robot quipped.

“Don’t lose Booster Gold,” he added with a smirk.

Booster chuckled nervously. Then, before stepping through, he turned back toward the other heroes.

“Don’t tell Ted. He worries too much.”

With that, he leapt into the **portal**.

Colors swirled into a chaotic vortex as Booster and Skeets plummeted through time and space—until they finally crashed onto solid ground.

Booster groaned, staggering to his feet as his body vibrated, syncing with the world around him.

“Ugh… we’ve had worse landings than that,” he muttered, brushing himself off.

But when he looked around, his face froze.

He was standing in **Metropolis**—but the skies were **blood-red**, lightning crackling above. The **Daily Planet** building towered before him, its globe now carved with a glowing **Omega symbol**.

Above, swarms of **Parademons** filled the skies.

“Oh no… no, no, no, no, no…” Booster whispered.

A searing **Omega Beam** tore down from the heavens, forcing him to dive aside as the street exploded into rubble.

When he looked up, his worst fear took shape.

An entire **army of enhanced warriors** descended from the sky—each wielding rings, their armor burning with the symbol of Omega.

At their head stood **Darkseid**, his voice booming with grim triumph:

“At last… I have my army. The **Omega Corps**!”

Fifty-two days ago, Darkseid felt a surge—something had shifted in his very existence. A change he could not understand.
Now, Darkseid stands before the machine—crafted with Element X from the Forge of Worlds. This device holds technology of the past, the present, and the future. The great machine continues to move as Darkseid floats above it.
He had been warned: it would only respond to one… the one who shares its blood.
Darkseid prepares himself, raises his axe high, and in one swift strike—severs his own hand. His blood pours from the wound, spilling onto the machine. But it is not enough.
The machine signals—more blood is required.
The faint smile fades from Darkseid’s face. But then, a voice calls. He turns to see his followers, led by his son, Kalak.
Kalak pleads with his father, demanding to know the reason for his long absence. Yet he also sees an opportunity—the chance to prove his worth.
Darkseid nods. “Yes… is this what you’ve wanted, my son?” Kalak bows his head. “We rose to the challenge. Look at the great army we’ve built in your name.”
Steppenwolf and the others step forward, agreeing with Kalak. They urge Darkseid to unleash this army upon Earth. But Darkseid refuses.
Kalak’s anger boils over. “Have you forgotten who you are?!”
Darkseid pauses. “Perhaps… I have.” He admits that his path now leads him to walk alone.
But Kalak shakes his head. “No. We are your blood. We will not abandon you. Whatever it is you seek—we will help you.”
Kalak steps beside his father. Darkseid looks at the great machine, then finally answers: “Very well… you may help.”
In a flash, he spins—driving his axe deep into Kalak’s chest. His son stares in shock as Darkseid lifts him into the air.
“You are right, my son. You are my blood. And for that… I am grateful.”
Darkseid hurls Kalak’s body onto the machine.
The great engine roars to life. Fire and light erupt in every direction. The bond is complete. Now the machine is awakened.
For Darkseid, only one task remains—finding the being known as The Spectre.

His search begins in the depths of Hell. He demands the demons reveal Spectre’s location—but they know nothing. Next, he ascends to the heavens, battling angels, until he confronts Zauriel, who offers him peace—reunion with his departed wife—if he abandons his quest. Darkseid refuses.
On the dark side of the moon, he faces Eclipso. For a moment, it seems Darkseid might fall. But Darkseid is not only power—he is cunning. With the Boom Tube, he annihilates Eclipso.
And there, in the shadows of the moon, he finds his prize. He pulls massive chains, tearing open a prison gate—where he discovers Jim Corrigan, human host of the Spectre.
Darkseid smiles. “At last… the truth will be mine. Because you will tell me.”
But before Corrigan can speak, light tears through reality. The Quintessence appears before Darkseid.
They warn him: “The Spectre will never bind to one such as you.”
Darkseid grins. “True. But I’ve taken steps to change the very laws of existence.”
“I built a machine. And now… all I must do is wish.”
The Quintessence stares in horror, realizing the truth.
Darkseid speaks his desire: “I wish… to bond with the Spectre.”
Corrigan screams as the Spectre is ripped from his body. The Spirit of Vengeance resists—but it is useless.
The merging begins.
“Stop resisting… and answer me!” Darkseid demands. “What is this surge I felt within me?!”
The Spectre fights back, opening a rift, pulling Darkseid into the Justice League Watchtower. He hopes the heroes can stop him.
But the League does not know the Spectre is within their midst. As they clash with Darkseid, he ignores them—his true battle is with the Spirit of Vengeance.
“Look around you, Darkseid,” the Spectre says. “This is your role. You are balance. A constant. A great player in the cosmic game.”
But Darkseid roars back, refusing to accept it. “No! There is more—tell me!”
The fight rages. In flashes, Darkseid sees his past—all his wars, all his battles against the champions of the universe. He realizes the Spectre speaks truth: he has always been the great counterweight.
But Darkseid has grown weary of that destiny.
The Spectre surges forward, for a moment possessing Superman, who soars at Darkseid, unleashing a blinding blast of energy.
“SEE WHAT YOU TRULY ARE!” the Spectre thunders.
The force consumes Darkseid. At last, he surrenders.
“No, Spectre… it is finished.”
A faint whisper escapes his lips: “Thank you.”
For the first time, Darkseid embraces death.

Yet… in his end, a beginning.
Unchained from a single world, from a single purpose, Darkseid reaches outward—shaping a new reality.
A world of endless trials. A world of chaos and challenge. A world where heroes must rise to even greater heights.
Where Diana, the Amazon, rides a beast of Apokolips. Where Batman faces threats without his old resources to lean on. Where an alien does not fall as a child—but crashes to Earth fully grown.
Darkseid gazes upon this new world with a smile.
And so begins the Absolute DC Universe—the universe reborn by Darkseid’s will.

And that concludes our exploration of how the new Absolute DC Universe began. But the journey is far from over.
Soon, we’ll dive into the stories of Absolute Wonder Woman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Batman.
