Absolute Wonder Woman #2 (2024)

Absolute Wonder Woman #2 (2024) : THOMPSON & SHERMAN’S RED-HOT REIMAGINING OF WONDER WOMAN UNLEASHES MONSTER MAYHEM! Gateway City has never seen anything like the Harbinger-Prime, the enormous, ravenous monster that has just risen from the depths of the ocean to darken its shores… but the Harbinger has never seen anything like the unstoppable Diana, Princess of the Underworld!

*Wonder Woman—Reforged from the Beginning*

No Paradise Island.

No sisterhood to shape her.

No mission of peace.

What remains… is the *Absolute Amazon.*

*Absolute Wonder Woman – Issue #2*

In *Gateway City*, the colossal being known as *the Harbinger* emerges from the depths of the ocean, advancing with thunderous steps. But he is met by Diana, who walks boldly onto the city’s shore, her **enchanted lasso** glowing as it coils around her body.

The Harbinger fires a blazing beam from his eyes, but Diana swiftly ducks, dodging the attack, and counters with a strike of her lasso against the creature’s face.

“This is but a small taste, Harring Prime. Retreat now—and save yourself,” Diana commands.

But the beast roars in defiance, summoning his followers—smaller, lizard-like creatures that swarm Diana without mercy.

“Retreat is death, fool!” the Harbinger bellows.

Diana hurls protective incantations, repelling the lesser monsters with the power of her lasso. When escape is no longer an option, she whirls the rope above her head and casts it around the neck of the great titan.

“Listen to me, Harbinger. This weapon was forged in the flames of Hell, shaped by the sorceress Circe, and woven from the remains of the last Basilisk. It binds and burns in equal measure—by the weight of your sins,” Diana declares.

The monstrous herald screams in agony, his skin searing as smoke rises.

“Release me, Amazon! Release me!” he howls, his voice shaking the buildings around them.

Diana shakes her head. “You will have your freedom—but only on one condition, great Harbinger.”

She commands him to return to the depths from which he came—and to carry a warning to his master: that Earth now lies under the protection of Diana, of the Savage Isle, *Princess of Hell, and the Last of the Amazons.*

The Harbinger glares at her for a long moment, then lowers his head in submission.

“We accept,” he growls.

Diana releases the lasso, allowing the great creature to retreat into the ocean, his smaller spawn following close behind. She descends to the ground, watching as the sea slowly regains its calm. Behind her, smoke from the battle still lingers, curling into the sky. As the sea breeze clears the last of the haze, a lone soldier steps forward.

“Diana…” he calls.

The princess turns slowly—and sees her long-lost friend.

“Steve,” she whispers softly.

*Once, on the shores of the Savage Isle…*

Diana had been walking when she discovered a man lying unconscious on the beach. She rushed to his side, kneeling over his battered body.

“Please… tell them I’m sorry…” Steve muttered before his eyes fluttered shut.

“Who are you? Where did you come from?” Diana asked quietly, lifting the man into her arms and carrying him swiftly home.

Circe turned in shock as the door swung open and Diana entered, clutching the stranger.

“Mother—bring Cerberus’ fur! It’s the warmest we have!” Diana shouted, laying Steve down on her bed. She quickly recounted the tale, while her mother listened in stunned silence. At last, her mother sighed and turned toward the kitchen.

“Well… I suppose I’ll put the kettle on,” she muttered.

Later, Steve awoke to find Diana at his side. She handed him a steaming cup of tea and gently explained where he had washed ashore.

“So… where exactly *are* we?” Steve asked at last.

Diana looked away shyly. “Well… this might be difficult to explain. You’re in the *Underworld*.”

Steve jolted upright, panic in his eyes. “The Underworld? I’m dead?!” he cried.

But both women shook their heads. “Not exactly,” they said together.

Steve sank down on the edge of the bed, burying his face in his hands, muttering to himself.

“I’ll give you a minute to process,” Diana said kindly.

Later, they join Circe for dinner. Moderating his initial reaction, Steve watches as she introduces herself with a handshake.

“Lucky for you, you’ve arrived on the Savage Isle—which, thanks to Diana and me, has become one of the safest places,” she explains.

“If you had to be anywhere… it’s better than Hell,” Diana adds gently, watching Steve nod slowly, still reeling from everything he has experienced.

He turns to her, asking her to show him the place where she had found him on the beach.

As they walk along the shoreline, Steve reflects. He explains that he had believed he lived a good life—and never imagined he would end up in the Underworld at his death.

Diana shrugs. “In my experience, not everyone here truly belongs. Sometimes it’s just about the place where we end up.”

The two pause, staring silently at the ocean for a moment.

Finally, Steve looks at her and says quietly, “Thank you… for saving me twice.”

Diana smiles softly, responding to his spirit with a gentle nod.

*Gateway City – Present Day*

The two stand on the shoreline, exchanging glances for a brief moment. Suddenly, Diana lunges forward and hugs Steve tightly. After pulling back, she smiles softly.

“I hoped I’d see you… but I never imagined it would be today,” she admits.

Steve smiles in return and asks, “What are you doing here?”

Diana shrugs just as Pegasus descends beside her.

“I saved the day… as usual,” she says with a grin.

Steve shakes his head, telling her that the military command wants to speak with her—even though they might not be pleased.

Diana nods and gestures for him to lead the way.

“You don’t need to warn me, Stephen. I’m not entirely naive. In the human world, I had a teacher—Dr. Sharp-tongue—who prepared me for exactly these kinds of things,” she says, smiling lightly.

Minutes later, Diana stands proudly as a short-tempered general shouts angrily at her, pointing to the destruction caused during her attempt to stop the monsters that attacked Gateway City.

When the general pauses to catch his breath, Diana speaks calmly.

“I understand your position, General. I am a stranger among you, an uncontrollable element, and that frustrates you—but that is not my problem,” she says with a hint of sadness.

She explains that the real threat is the next monster to arrive, and many lives will be lost if no action is taken. “I will assist you as much as I can. This world is not ready for what is coming, and you will need help,” Diana adds.

The general looks at her in astonishment as Diana turns to the tactical maps of the city and asks a nearby officer about the evacuation process.

The officer responds slowly, “We would have stopped this… if you hadn’t killed the monster—or at least driven it away, right?”

Diana shakes her head. “I did—but that was only the harbinger. A warning of what is coming. The next creature may arrive within an hour.” She insists that an evacuation be ordered for at least one mile inland from the coast.

The general commands the evacuation to continue but then returns to yelling at Diana and Steve. Finally, Diana’s patience snaps.

She steps forward, towering over the general in a commanding stance, anger flashing in her eyes.

“I think we both know that *you* need me, considering what just happened. Whereas I… do not need you at all. Perhaps you should reconsider the way you deal with me, and we can try again once you calm down—preferably before more innocent lives are lost,” she declares.

She turns and leaves, heading toward the entrance of the command center.

“I’ll be outside—feed my horse,” she says sharply.

Steve follows, finding her channeling magical energy into Pegasus. The great winged horse glows with power as Diana tends to him.

Steve steps forward and gently pats the creature approaching him.

“I’m sorry for what happened there,” he says.

Diana shakes her head. “It was disappointing—but I expected it,” she tells him.

She explains that other heroes will appear to confront what is coming. But before she can clarify further, Pegasus rises with a loud cry.

Suddenly, a wave of magical energy sweeps across the city. Soldiers fall to the ground, clutching their heads as the psychic force surges outward.

Diana moves swiftly toward the shoreline, pushing against the psychic energy that surrounds her. She stares in shock, and Steve catches up, standing beside her, his eyes wide with terror as he sees the colossal creature emerging from the waters.

“Oh my God, Diana… what is that?” he asks.

Diana whispers back, “It is Death incarnate.”

She begins walking toward the giant monster, commanding Steve and the others to evacuate the city completely.

“You have had enough time… but Tethra-Side leaves nothing behind,” she says as she advances toward the waters, where the massive creature rises to confront her.

And with that, *Absolute Wonder Woman #2* comes to a close—a thrilling issue full of mystery, power, and the promise of even greater challenges ahead.
